Psychedelic Care for Those Serving the Public Good
Community is core to our mission at Cardea. We believe psychedelics hold promise not only for alleviating psychological suffering, but also for helping people encounter themselves, their relationships, and their lives with greater clarity, compassion, curiosity, and flexibility.
We established the Furthur Fund to help ensure that today’s psychedelic renaissance does not become another resource available only to those with the greatest financial means. The Fund expands access to carefully prepared, ethically held, and thoughtfully integrated psychedelic care for people whose work supports the wellbeing of others. To date, The Furthur Fund has provided more than 1,500 hours and 500 sessions of free ketamine care.
The Furthur Fund serves people in caregiving, healing, education, health, social service, recovery, and community-support roles. These include healthcare workers, therapists, social workers, educators, first responders, peer-support workers, shelter staff, overdose-prevention and harm-reduction workers, and other helping professionals.
Many of the people we serve spend their working lives close to trauma, crisis, illness, grief, addiction, and emotional distress. They carry substantial responsibility for the wellbeing of others, often while experiencing burnout, secondary trauma, emotional fatigue, or limited access to restorative care themselves.
People who care for others also need places where they can be cared for.
The Furthur Fund also supports the responsible growth of the psychedelic field by providing training to professionals who are learning to hold psychedelic experiences with humility, restraint, compassion, and care. To date, dozens of practitioners working in healing, recovery, and community-based settings have participated in this training.

For the promise of psychedelic care to become truly meaningful, it must reach more than a privileged few. It must also support people who might not otherwise have access to high-quality preparation, supported psychedelic experiences, and integration.
