A lot of people are so serious about psychedelics lately, obsessing over how they might use them to “fix” what’s “wrong” with themselves. It’s a view that risks turning psychedelics into just another cog in the Western medical model. But psychedelics have always been far more interesting than that. They are, by nature, creative, and have the potential to plunge us into a direct and dynamic relationship with life.

Cardea hosts @yourmorbidfriends a death literacy company working to help people in various stages of life grow comfortable with the inevitable fate that unites all living beings: death. We hold space for you and Your Mordbid Friends to explore the practice of maraṇasati (mindfulness of death), found in Therevada Buddhism, which is when one contemplates the unpredictable and ever-present possibility of death. Through this practice, it is believed the practitioner can more fully embrace and appreciate what it means to be alive. Their intellectual ancestors for this curated session are Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, Ram Dass and their interpretations of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, as well as Mary Cosimano from the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research at Johns Hopkins.

Welcome to Cardea Space. Our unique interiors were carefully designed by artist @randypolumbo. Randy has designed and built Cardea’s Tribeca Ketamine Space in New York City to enhance the calming, novel and imaginative environment for transformative experiences. The space’s design materializes Cardea’s concept of “radical hospitality,” which places the guest and their goals at the visual, tactile, and acoustical center of the experience. All sensory interactions have been considered, from lighting, sound, scents and textures, leading each moment of a journey to a new discovery.

Our group ketamine journeys, evening salons, integration meetings and more all held in this remarkable gathering space, outfitted with a LED mushroom chandelier and silver floor couch, and is an optimal space for extending liminality.

Join us next Thursday June 13th from 7-8:30pm at Cardea Space for a guided meditation and sound bath by our facilitators Johanna Verley @darmae.essentials and Chuck Richards @hotep49.

Expect to surrender to the sounds of bowls, gongs, flutes, chimes and more, as you nestle into our gatherings grotto. Floor mats, pillows, blankets, and eye masks can be provided. Hot tea and light snacks will be served.

This is a limited ticketed event. Tickets are donation based and all proceeds will be donated to our non-profit, The Furthur Fund, to support front line workers with free ketamine treatments at Cardea. Suggested donation of $30.

What to expect when you come in for a group ketamine session? On the surface, it may look familiar, but what you don’t see is the ethos that weaves through our process is our ability to create a container for “play”. (Plus, there’s no other place in NYC that offers live music in a mycelium-filled space!)

Play lies at the heart of psychological transformation.
Contemporary research on therapeutic change identifies the site of change as our ability to contemplate, to consider multiple possibilities in a dispassionate way—in other words, our ability to play with our own experiences.

The Cardea Method is based on the insight that by approaching our deeply ingrained narratives and self-perceptions with flexibility and creativity, we discover new possibilities and redefine our relationship to suffering.
