SUMMARY:Cardea's Lascaux Method - Facilitator Training for Psychedelic-Assisted Care - 5 Weeks
DESCRIPTION:An Immersive Facilitator Training for Psychedelic-Assisted Care and Group Ketamine Session led by Co-Founder\, Dr. Ross Ellenhorn.\n \nBecome Certified in The Lascaux Method! \nWith decades of experience in psychedelic\, psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practices\, Cardea invites those seeking a deeper way to hold space through our custom training. Whether you’re a psychedelic facilitator\,  therapist\, teacher\, counselor\, or just looking to develop skills to deepen your relationship with yourself or others\, this training is for you. \nINTRODUCTION\nAt Cardea we believe that the quality of a psychedelic experience depends on what’s called a “holding environment\,” the way in which people comfort and contain a person during the experience. We also believe that holding people in this way is an art\, requiring just as much skill\, practice and training as any artform. Holding begins at your first interaction with a client\, the preparation for the session\, and through the post journey experience of meaning making. \nIn this training we focus predominantly on the art of holding before and after the psychedelic experience. And we offer an innovative way of doing so\, in which an experience of play and aliveness are the goal. This 5 week immersive and intimate training will give you a unique opportunity to learn the Cardea’s Lascaux Method of space holding directly from the founder Dr. Ross Ellenhorn. \nRoss has spent 30+ years researching and developing a care model of helping individuals reach higher levels of realness\, connectedness and play in their lives\, his most recent books on this subject published by HarperCollins. \nWhether you are looking to gain more training as a psychedelic facilitator\, are a therapist\, teacher\, counselor\, or just looking to develop skills to deepen your relationship with yourself or others\, this training is for you. \nTo learn more and reserve your spot\, schedule a free consultation. Capacity is limited to 10 participants. \n  \n \n\nWHAT TO EXPECT\n\n\nInitial Consultation and 1 on 1 Dr. Ross Ellenhorn prior to the start of training to help us learn what you’re looking for and determine if this is a good fit you. \n\n\nA deep dive into the origins of “Dialogic” psychotherapy that influenced the Cardea’s Lascaux Method from the creator and founder Dr. Ross Ellenhorn. \n\n\nAmple opportunity for each participant to practice our methods together and received real time feedback from Ross Ellenhorn and Clinical Director Zach Rieck. \n\n\nThe option to engage in a group ketamine treatment experience on the final day of training where all the skills learned will be used in practice. \n\n\nIntimate experience with individualized attention to help you hone your skills with a maximum capacity of only 10 participants in the cohort. \n\n\n15 hours of training + 3 hour ketamine session (hybrid). \n\n\nOption to gain hands on experience with real clients at Cardea Space upon completion of the training. \n\n\nLascaux Method Certification for Preparation and Integration of Psychedelic-Assisted Care \n\n\nTRAINING SCHEDULE\n\nSunday\, Sept 29th: 10am – 6pm – Orientation & Overview (in person at 511 Canal St)\nTuesday\, Oct 8th: 6pm – 7pm – Practice Session (virtual)\nTuesday\, Oct 15th: 6pm – 7pm – Practice Session (virtual)\nTuesday\, Oct 22nd: 6-7pm – Practice Session (virtual)\nSunday\, Oct 27th: 10am – 6pm – Group Ketamine & Closing Ceremony (in person at 511 Canal St)\n\nEXCHANGE\n$2\,100 \n\nIncludes 1 on 1 meeting with Ross Ellenhorn prior to training\nIncludes virtual Medical Assessment with our prescribing doctor\nIncludes 15 hours of training + 3 hour ketamine session\nDoes not include cost of the nasal spray medicine (~$100) paid directly to pharmacy\n\n*payment plans available through CareCredit. An author of three books on human change\, his latest work\, “Purple Crayons: The Art of Drawing a Life\,” published by Harper Collins\, emphasizes the significance of play in human experience and its potential as a gift of modernity. Ross challenges the prevailing trend of standardization in human transformation\, critiquing the evolution of therapy from an improvisational art form to a push for normalization and sameness. Rejecting such standards\, he endeavors to heal the wounds of “problem saturation\,” wherein individuals feel defined by their issues rather than their inherent vitality. Advocating for an authentic\, artistic existence\, Ross rejects societal expectations in all his endeavors and will be central to the Lascaux Training. Visit his website to learn more.  \nZach Rieck\, LCSW \nAssistant Trainer – Zach Rieck is a Clinical Social Worker\, licensed in the state of New York. He is a graduate of Tulane University with a BA in Philosophy\, and of Rutgers University with a Master of Social Work. He completed an intensive Ketamine assisted psychotherapy training through Polaris. Zach previously worked for 3.5 years at Ellenhorn LLC\, a Program for Assertive Community Treatment\, with a team of clinicians using a model that focuses on the trauma experienced by people who have been diagnosed as suffering with psychiatric symptoms. Employing a compassionate Harm Reduction model\, he acted as the Integrative Dual Diagnosis Therapy Coordinator for the program’s New York City location\, supervising all cases involving clients in complicated relationships to substances. Zach has also worked for 3 years in a harm reduction setting with BronxWorks\, providing therapeutic services to clients in frequent extreme states of mind and mood. His caseload consisted of clients with a history of chronic street homelessness. He has over 13 years of experience within psychedelic communities as an advocate and proponent of psychedelic harm reduction. Zach also maintains a caseload of private therapy clients. Zach has focused his work on supporting individuals who have been harmed by the medical model of mental health. His therapeutic style is born from an acknowledgment of the vastness of the human experience and the sacredness of the individual within their community. His passion is caring for people who have become isolated due to the harmful stigma generated by prevailing ideas around mental illness. Zach is interested in supporting and bearing witness to a shift from the guilt and shame of being “mentally ill” or “broken\,” to an empowered stance which honors the reasonable pain of operating within systems which cut us off from meaning and purpose. \n \n\nCardea is dedicated to assisting individuals in their recovery from deep psychological anguish and supporting those seeking an awakened life. We believe that breaking free from standardized living and embracing uncertainty and novelty are key to personal growth and well-being. Join us as we explore the limitless possibilities for self-knowledge and increased wellness through the fusion of psychedelic-assisted therapy\, ketamine care\, and acupuncture.

SUMMARY:Cardea Salon Series: The Captive Imagination with Dr. Elias Dakwar
DESCRIPTION:In this part-experiential group discussion\, we will explore the diverse relationships that are possible with psychoactive drugs. We will also inquire into why some relationships predispose to harm\, while other relationships – even with the same drug – might be liberating\, therapeutic\, or illuminating. A final discussion will touch on the centrality of imagination\, creativity\, and fluidity in our fruitful engagement with these drugs\, and explore ways we might heighten our capacity for skillful drug-taking. \n \nElias Dakwar is an associate professor of psychiatry at Columbia University and practicing psychiatrist in New York City. His research includes investigation of novel treatments for addiction\, with a focus on combining contemplative practices\, medicines\, and psychotherapy. Dr. Dakwar completed a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Columbia and received a K23 award evaluating the ketamine infusions combined with mindfulness training to treat cocaine use disorders. Most recently\, he is a principal investigator on several R01s evaluating ketamine for induction onto extended-release naltrexone for opioid use disorder as well as ketamine infusion to facilitate treatment for cocaine use disorder and alcohol use disorder. \nAll ticket proceeds will be donated to Cardea’s non-profit The Furthur Fund. Please consider donating. \n \nCardea Space is an innovative approach to growth\, healing\, and transformation\, guided by leading practitioners in the psychedelic and psychotherapeutic arts\, using space holding techniques coupled with ketamine\, arts\, and dialogue. Experts in holding the right space for change\, our signature model focuses on your courage in the face of your challenges\, and your humanity in your suffering as we walk beside you on your path towards growth. Cardea’s mission is to support social change and make ketamine therapy accessible. SUMMARY:Cardea Salon Series: We Are All Aging – Let’s End Ageism with Ashton Applewhite
DESCRIPTION:We Are All Aging – Let’s End Ageism \nFrom childhood on\, we’re barraged by messages that it’s sad to be old. That wrinkles are embarrassing\, and old people useless. Author and activist Ashton Applewhite believed them too\, until she figured out where this prejudice comes from and the damage it does. In this provocative\, funny\, and deeply informed talk\, Applewhite explains the roots of ageism—in society and in our own age denial—and how it divides and diminishes us. Applewhite sets out the personal and professional consequences (especially for women)\, shows how ageist myths and stereotypes harm our health and well-being\, critiques the portrayal of olders as burdens to society\, describes what an all-age-friendly world would look like\, and concludes with a rousing call to action. Whether you’re older or hoping to get there\, this talk will cheer you up\, shake you by the shoulders\, and change the way you think about the years ahead. \n \nAn internationally recognized expert on ageism\, Ashton Applewhite is the author of This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism and a co-founder of the Old School Anti-Ageism Clearinghouse. She speaks widely at venues that have included the United Nations and the TED mainstage\, and is at the forefront of the emerging movement to raise awareness of ageism and make age a criterion for diversity. In 2022 the United Nations named Ashton one of the Healthy Aging 50: fifty leaders transforming the world to be a better place to grow older.
